54. Watch every nominated movie from the Academy Awards (excluding foreign film) from 2007-2009
I watched Across the Universe on Saturday. Loved it. It was crazy-weird but I thought they did a great job telling the story using songs- I had anticipated that being a bit forced. I would have liked Bono's and Eddie's roles to have been a little bigger. Otherwise, it was wonderful. Strange, but wonderful. I especially loved the 'With a Little Help from my Friends' number and I had tears in my eyes during 'Across the Universe' and 'Hey Jude'. I also had Hey Jude stuck in my head ALL afternoon after that. Then, as soon as it was out, I went to Blockbuster to return the movie and they had a commercial for Across the Universe on the monitors there and the song came on and it got stuck again. LOL I really enjoyed the movie, though. It was dark but bright and depressing but uplifting. It's my parents' generation, not mine, but I still loved it. The kind of themes and messages that work in this era just as well as the Vietnam War period.
