List 2- Thing 75
May. 30th, 2010 06:19 pm75. Buy 10 Wizard Rock CDs from non-A-List artists I've never bought from before
I don't usually buy a lot of CDs from bands who don't come my way on tour, and I don't usually hear much about the smaller bands or newer bands. But lots of them are worthy of attention.
So here's the list of purchases so far:
1. Alas Earwax!- Alas Earwax! and the Power of Sheer Luck and More Talented Friends- I bought this because I really liked several of the songs (There's a Face in the Back of my Head and Cliff Notes Harry Potter). On the whole, some of the songs have a bit too much attitude for me or say things I don't agree with. But there are a few fun ones there that I'm glad I bought the CD for, even if it took more than a month and several e-mails to get it sent to me after I purchased it.
2. The Sweetwater All-Stars- Wrock on the D-List- Country music isn't my thing but I really like the simple, fun songs on this album. It's great hearing WRock songs with a different kind of sound and with a different sort of spin to them! It was also really neat that the CDs were available in house colors. I got Hufflepuff yellow, naturally :-) I also bought a pin and a few bookmarks.
3. The Buttermellows- The Butter Demo II- Kelli from the Sweetwater All-Stars suggested this to me after I told her of this project/goal of mine and I'm SO glad for the suggestion! I love the sound and every single song. Definitely an artist I will watch closely in the future for new releases. Also, she personalized the CD case.
4. The Blibbering Humdingers- Voldemort Made me Crap My Pants- I bought this on iTunes after watching them stream a concert from their home on the snowy day that Snorous was postponed. I was so amused. I also bought a Hufflepuff Sandwich t-shirt from them and a few buttons in person when I finally saw them in person at Sonorus. Anyway, I LOVE the CD. So amusing and fun! Great lyrics and a great sound.
5. Bella and Le Strangers- The Self-Titled EP & the Red and Green EP (also with George's Left Ear)- Bought these yesterday at Sonorus. I haven't listened to them yet. I had only intended to buy the one but I had a $10 and it was $10 for both together so I couldn't resist.
6. Madame Pince and the Librarians- Live at the Sidewalk Cafe- Bought this yesterday at Sonorus. I haven't listened to it yet.
7. Howthorn & Holly- Jinxed in the Head- Bought this yesterday at Sonorus. I haven't listened to it yet.
8. The Dumbledore's Army Band- Live! at Sonorus- Bought this yesterday at Sonorus. I haven't listened to it yet but I'm kind of curious
I just purchased Kwikspell's latest CD, but I'm not going to count that until it's physically in my hands! I contacted Statutory Snape but they're not selling their CD yet. And I did buy the Muggle Relations CD on iTunes but since it's a side project of some of the Ministry of Magic musicians, I'm not going to count it.
