98. Donate 100,000 grains of rice at FreeRice

Donated today: 2500
Level: 10 of 10
Best Level: 10

Total: 13,500/100,000

I jumped around a lot. I started in English Grammar but two of this had bugs so that no matter which answer you chose, it came out wrong. I got tired of seeing those two over and over again so I switched to French for a while. I got to level... 7 maybe? Then I got bored and switched to pre-Algebra arithmetic where I got something like 40 in a row correct before I made a stupid mistake.

47. Get a book journaled for all states I don't already have books in

I keep track of the travels of my books here: http://bc.kintailscape.com/travels.html
According to that page, I'm missing books from: Alaska, Arkansas, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Wyoming

Maine: http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/6459278 (not officially journaled in Maine but I spoke to the person who took and she was indeed visiting from Maine; also, the missing release note bug got this one, sadly)
Missouri: http://bookcrossing.com/journal/3307162
Nevada: http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/8361975

Map of the states I've gotten journal entries for:

books have visited 40 states (80%)

57. Go to a local AFOL/LUG meeting

On October 3, 2010, I attended my first WAMALUG meeting. I felt a little on the outside, but at least I brought a few small sets to build. I had fun talking with other adult fans of LEGO and seeing some of the new sets and their sorting techniques.

Oh, the awesome organizational systems LEGO fans use. Favorite discussion of the meeting :-)

45. Clear 25 books off my BookCrossing TBR Shelves

I've been trying to pay more attention to these. I've decided that I'm not going to count audios, even though I made this goal with those in mind as well.

1. Star Trek The Siege (Deep Space Nine #2) by Peter David
2. Future Diary Volume 1 by Sakae Esuno
3. A Love Song For The Miserable by Yukimura
4. Elmore Leonard's 10 Rules of Writing by Elmore Leonard
5. A War of Gifts: An Ender Story by Orson Scott Card

75. Buy 10 Wizard Rock CDs from non-A-List artists I've never bought from before

Finished this one!

9. Witherwings- The Lighter & Darker Matters- pretty much purchased this sight unseen/unheard. I only know one Witherwings song and I liked it, so I took a change (the point of this thing is to try out other artists, after all). There are a few on the CD I don't absolutely love, but she's got a good sound and a beautiful voice and some very nice songs in this collection. Also, I got it signed. So cool!

10. Kwikspell- Good to See You Wallenby- Kwikspell isn't well-known, but she should be. Thank goodness her first albumn's amazingness wasn't just a fluke. I am SO glad I finally got this CD (I ordered it in April but it only just arrived recently). I seriously love these songs so much.

58. Experience Halloween at the Poe House in Baltimore

I'm so glad I worked up the courage and had the time to go to this! The normal guided tour of the house isn't done during their special event weekends because the house is so small. But I still got to explore the whole house and look at all the displays both before and after the special performance.

First, I was worried about going there on my own because I've felt uncomfortable in that neighborhood before. But when I arrived, there was a police officer standing right there who showed me where to park and said he would be watching the cars while I was inside--so nice! He was also super helpful. He knew all about Poe and Baltimore history/landmarks.

After waiting outside about half an hour, I got to go in and look around. There are several rooms and some really skinny, curved staircases (one that you could only go up to the top of and then there wasn't room to turn around so you had to climb down backwards. I love houses with character like this. There were lots of interesting items including part of the old memorial, china/crystal, papers, books, Poe's lap desk, portraits, and a series of drawings for the Raven (you could read the printout of the poem and go from art piece to art piece to see the framed illustrations of each part). There wasn't much of Poe's things there and certainly none of his furniture (poor Poe; he probably sold it for money). This wasn't the house where he wrote his most famous pieces, but he did write a lot in the house and it was really neat to be walking around in the rooms where he lived and worked and was inspired.

The performance was amazing. The actor performed the Tell-Tale Heart for us. I got chills when he started talking about the eye for the first time. And the emotion he put into it was stupendous. I could really feel everything the character was going through. I remember loving that one when I first read it back in 7th grade; it was wonderful to see it performed by an actor dressed in garb, standing IN Poe's house, wooden floorboards under our chairs *G* What a neat experience!

Afterward, I got directions (once from the curator, and then again from the super nice police officer after I got lost in the neighborhood and had to start all over again) to Poe's Grave site. I met some really neat people there; it was a popular destination this weekend!

I'm so glad I made this one of my things, because if I hadn't, I'm not sure I would have done this. But it was a great experience and something I hope to remember forever.
