63. Clean, fix, and touch up house during the first week of May every year
Wednesday Progress: I kicked arse today! After the volunteer lunch at Kings Park, I went back to work and put up a podcast. Then I went home and dealt with most of the mess that was my downstairs. I put together a big pile in one spot of things that I believe belong to my parents (tools and painting supplies, etc.). I moved the fake wooden shelving system that used to be in my craft room closet into my furnace room and organized the hell out of it, moving in all the tools, ladder, paint cans, rope, sandpaper, etc. that belong in that room. I was careful not to put the paint next to the furnace, go me! There's still a lot of space for other things to go, and now everything has its place in little pull-out baskets for nails or painting tape or paint supplies, etc. I think it looks all kinds of beautiful and I'm very happy with the result:

I also got a significant portion of the downstairs mess sorted through. That thing was so overwhelming... now it's just mildly whelming. Yay! Seriously, you've got to look at the before picture (the first one in this post) and compare the two:

And here's what I did to the laundry room where the wash tub is (the drawers are laundry-related supplies like lint brushes, then the middle drawer is car-washing supplies, and the bottom drawer is rags for washing/dusting; the top is laundry detergents, most of which I'm probably going to toss out; under the tub is cleaning supplies like goo-gone and fabreeze):

Thursday: I got a LOT of errands done. After going to the Pohick volunteer lunch, I went to the Dollar store and bought some things for organizing and for swaps. Then I went to get my allergy meds, went to the craft store, went to the party store, and went to the grocery store. I got lots of food and the last pieces of Mom's mother's day/birthday gifts. I organized the cat stuff in the downstairs bathroom shower; I need to buy a curtain for that so it looks better. I also threw some food away from the fridge/pantry. But I didn't get very much done, honestly.
Friday: I went through my posters, trying to find the John William Waterhouse one. I got rid of a few and sorted them into piles based on what floors of the house they are going up in. But I didn't find the JWW poster. I wonder where it is? I hope I still have it somewhere! I also spent 2 hours in Target getting every Series 10 minifig they had and buying a couple things for swaps. Then I went to a play with friends.
Saturday: I got home from my volunteer shift at the library, ate lunch, and then realized I was freakin exhausted. I napped for 3 hours and then had to PULL myself out of bed. I did some crafts while watching movies all evening: Clue, Trading Places, Coming to America, and Serendipity. I also wrote three short stories, as I'm doing a story-a-day challenge this month.
Sunday: I woke up much earlier than I normally would on a Sunday (9am). I went through a box of things, wrapped Mom's birthday and mother's day presents, finished up some craft things I'd started the day before and left to dry, and released 4 boxes of books to the Gaithersburg book festival. My throat and head started hurting mid-day and by the time I left for Mom's place, I felt like crap.
Monday: I emailed in sick to work because I woke up and the sore throat was 5 times worse. I was almost crying it hurt so much when I tried to swallow, which was hard to do (I spilled tea and soup down my shirt several times LOL). Plus, there was a pounding in my ears and I went dizzy every time I stood up for more than a few seconds. So I spent most of the day sitting down or lying down. I started feeling a little better in the evening and managed to eat rice. Then I processed the rest of the Gaithersburg book festival books, so they can be ushered out of my house on Saturday. I also offered Mom some things from my boxes of things to donate. And I watched the entire Back to the Future trilogy from start to finish before the depressing hockey game.
