7. Read 50 comics/graphic novels

Yesterday was Free Comic Book Day. It was also a library used book sale. Between the two, I ended up with 19 comics and one lovely hardcover graphic novel. This morning, I was able to carve out some time to lie in bed and read comics all morning.

45. The Good Neighbors: Kind (book three) by Holly Black

46. Batman: Hush #608

47. Far From Wonder, Hatter M Volume One

48. Shigeru Mizuki's Showa: A History of Japan

49. Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man #48

50. Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man #49

51. Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man #50

Wait, I hit 50! Whoohoo!

1. Watch every Academy Award best picture nominee from 2010 to 2015

Gravity- Congratulations, Alfonso. You managed to make a movie I dislike more than Prisoner of Azkaban. And, congrats, for making a movie with my three biggest fears all in one. Was there a phone call I don't remember? "Hello, Kate. I was wondering what three things scare you to death." And when I answered you made a movie about those three things. Brilliant. I wanted this movie to end while the DVD menu was starting to play, before I'd even started the actual film. I wanted it to end about a dozen times throughout. And I screamed at the top of my voice "WHY WOULD YOU F***ING MAKE THIS MOVIE????!!!!" at least five different times. I am no stranger to writing things that hurt characters. I love hurting characters. It's kind of all I do. But this is just MEAN. And the ending was so damn cheesy there wasn't even any payoff. Okay, yeah, I get your stupid clever metaphor. Got it. Slapped in the face with it. But it was NOT worth sitting through the whole movie for. What a horrible movie. What terrible things to put these characters through. She couldn't catch a break, not ONE. Which is terrible storytelling. Because I didn't believe it. There was SO MUCH I didn't believe. And so many times I had to look away from the movie playing on the tiny tiny corner of my tiny monitor. Nope. Nope nope. Awful storytelling. Unbelievable events told far too realistically. And my three biggest fears all in one. This was NOT a movie I enjoyed. I am glad it is over so that I never, ever have to think about it again.
