Thing 34 & 80
Jun. 7th, 2015 07:46 pm34. Do something special with/for Dad
80. Visit Glen Echo Park
Today I went to Glen Echo Park with my dad. Glen Echo, an old amusement park just outside Washington, DC, is now part historical park and part artist studio collective. My dad used to be a potter and has taken it up again now that he has retired, so it was neat exploring the place with him and getting to see his thoughts on some of the pottery in one of the yurts. We got a special, personal tour of the historic carousel and got to see a lot of behind the scenes parts of it. Later, when it was running, I had a ride on it. We ate at the little cafe there and I had the best mushroom quiche I've ever tasted ever. In all, it was a fun place to visit. I loved seeing the details of such a historical place, got to ride on a carousel almost 100 years old that presidents and their families also rode on, and got to see some impressive art. In all, a great day and lots of fun sharing it with my daddy :-)
