13. Go to the optometrist (it’s been 9+ years) and get new glasses

My mother gave me her appointment at the optometrist since she went to Lens Crafters instead.

So I went to the eye doctor yesterday, and picked up my new glasses today! Strangely-enough, my parents both have AWFUL eyesight and after 9+ years, my prescription is exactly the same as it was back then. Which means I guess I really didn't *have* to go... but it's a relief to know my eyes aren't any worse. It's also a relief to know there's nothing wrong with them. "Healthy" is the word the doctor used. So that hour a few weeks ago when I was half blind was probably just due to exhaustion and dehydration and nothing else. They ran lots of tests and everything is fine. Which is great. One of my biggest fears is to lose my sight.

Even though my prescription is the same, I got new glasses because my old ones were really old and out of style. And in order to drive when it's sunny out, I take a $5 pair of sunglasses from Walmart (that have absolutely no UV protection, as far as I know) and wear both pairs of glasses at the same time. LOL So very sad.

So I got awesome new glasses. They have a glare coating on the lenses themselves, they're those flexi things so if I sit on them, the frames won't break, and they have awesome magnetic sunglasses that come epsecially made to fit them which are polarized as well. Awesome.

And the BEST part about it? Even though I didn't buy the extra vision plan, my health care COVERED so much of this! I was surprised and astounded- I didn't think my health care would cover a single penny. But I got about $127 knocked off the frames, and then another something off the exam and the lenses and $20-something off the glare coating... so the whole thing was only $358.80. Fantabulous! AND I can use my old glasses as back-ups since it's the same prescription. Which will come in handy at times like last week when I went to the movies and left my glasses in the car. This is AWESOME. Now let's hope these will be able to last me another 9+ years :-)

Yay for new glasses. And for same prescriptions. Very nice frames.
I went to Eyemart Express after about 4 years (even though being jobless, it took me awhile to justify it to myself, but headaches won out lol)
My prescription is almost the same, so I can keep using my old contacts (which were written to a slightly higer prescription to counter astigmatism) which is great since I have about 4 boxes left (can you tell I wear them a lot? lol) and got new glasses and sunglasses. Plus, with the coupon I had, I alson got 2 free boxes of contacts. So, I think I'm good on contacts for another 4 years or so lol.
