1. Watch every Academy Award best picture nominee from 2010 to 2015
A Serious Man- I just finished watching this. Strange. The line between reality and imagination is blurred a number of times, so you don't know it's a dream until the character wakes up. But mostly the story is just full of awful things happening and coincidences that seem... horrible but fortunate. For example, a little while after learning that his wife is leaving him for another man, Larry gets in a car accident. At the same time, the other man dies in a car accident. Frequently, the main character is struck with terrible news that, alone, would devastate someone but together just seem completely unfair. He goes to rabbi after rabbi, asking for advice, asking what it all means. And the ending of the movie... whoa. I was definitely left with the same question: what does it mean? A depressing, dark, strange, interesting, fascinating movie. Definitely one I wouldn't have watched if it hadn't been nominated for best picture. But I'm kind of indifferent about it. Great cast, though.
