just_the_things39. Visit Dumbarton Oaks Gardens
Afraid that I would miss the cherry blossoms this year, I headed to Dumbarton Oaks today. I spent a long time trying to figure out the bus system in DC, because of course there isn't a Metro stop too nearby and there's absolutely no parking. Travel time: 4.5 hours. Time there: 1 hour. Still, it was worth it. I heard about the place through Bing, as one of their daily images was of the cherry blossoms in the gardens, and apparently it's free during the winter months. So the fact that the cherry blossoms were out super early this year made it the perfect timing.
