List 1- Thing 73
Mar. 13th, 2009 01:43 am73. Read the entire Hornblower series of books
![]() | I read Lord Hornblower quite a long time ago (beginning of last year, I believe). I couldn't imagine why I didn't make a journal entry about it at the time. I read through the summary on Wikipedia just to make sure I had indeed read it and then I remembered the horrible, awful thing that happens in that book that I'm still in denial about. I believe I must have decided that if I didn't blog about it, it didn't actually happen. A year later, the pain is not so fresh but I'm still in denial. I'd like to finish the series now because I'm sure that what happened will be solved/explained/un-happened. Apart from that which shall not be named, I really liked the book. Dealing with mutineers is a situation we've seen in bits and pieces elsewhere. But this time it was complicated by his wife and Napoleon-- not in the same place in the same time, but just as elements in the plot. I loved watching Hornblower deal with the problems as only he could. |
