90. Clear out & cancel storage unit
Today I stopped by my storage unit on the way home and took out 2 big boxes, 1 small box, and 3 other assorted items (backpack, cat scratch post, and a bag of hangers). I was thinking of trying to set myself a rule of a minimum of 2 boxes each week. That might work for a while at least.
But I think I also need a game plan for what to do with the items when I get them out of the unit. What do I keep? What do I throw out?
Keep:
*Childhood items that are irreplaceable and that I cannot possible part with (Pound Puppies, My Little Ponies, books, games)
*Really nice household items (plates, serving tray, tv cabinet)
*Useful things you genuinely think you will need later (class study guides)
*Important things (diploma, day planners)
*Things you can keep in places other than the storage room (cleaning supplies, books)
*Off season holiday stuff
Keep only if there is space:
*Childhood items I love and am on the fence about
*Household items that cost lots of money to replace (television, microwave)
Get rid of:
*Things you want to get rid of but need to "sort through" first (old computer, clothes, papers)
*Household items that are easily replaceable
*Broken items that you need to fix but you know you never will
*Decor items you don't think you'll ever use again (Country? Dalmatians?)
I wonder if I could have a yard sale in late August? Not sure I'll be ready by then though.Summer would be the ideal time if I'm thinking of parting with my loft bed and, honestly, why should I keep it, hoping I'll have a use for it down the road? Bah. I'm no good at this stuff. LOL
I reserve the right to revise/add to this list as I come across items in my storage unit that don't fit the categories above.
