89. Put sound card in my computer
Today I conquered my fear, opened up my computer, and installed the sound card I bought for my computer. There was only 1 sound card that Dell sold for my model of computer and it didn't come with instructions or anything. Instead of installing it when I got it, I put it aside and a feeling of apprehension built whenever I thought about the card and my possible inability to install the thing on my own that I'd paid good money for.
I need to record narration for a video I'm making for the BookCrossing convention so I sucked it up today and opened up my computer. I stuck it into one of the slots but couldn't find anywhere to hook up the attached cable. I looked forever, but couldn't find anywhere. So I decided to give it a try with the loose cable just sitting in there. I turned the computer on (it takes about 15 minutes to reboot, which is why I never turn it off, LOL) but that gave me time to find my old microphone. The drivers installed automatically for me- YAY! And when I plugged in my mic, it seemed to recognize it. It took some time fiddling with all the settings to get the microphone working and then for the output to switch from the digital line out through speakers to the new sound card through speakers, but once I did, I danced around my room a little. It seems to record just fine in sound recorder and movie maker and I can hear out of my speakers as well. So it's all set up and that's such a relief. I feel so accomplished. heehee
