81. Visit the National Arboretum
The woman at the visitor's center laughed a little when I said I'd been in the area since 1986 and had never visited the National Arboretum. But that's why I put it on this list... and now I've been there!
I live maybe 20 miles from this place but it took me an hour and a half to drive there... welcome to D.C.! I found a great parking spot and then looked around a little while in the herb garden, at the columns (that used to be part of the Capitol building), and then the bonsai museum. Then I paid and took the tram ride tour around the arboretum grounds because my hip was killing me. Then I walked around the rest of the bonsai & penjing museum. After that, I drove to a few other places I'd passed on the tour and got out of the car so I could explore those areas in more detail. I took a few hundred photos.
