53. Create 2 digital scrapbook pages
Took me two days, 8 different pieces of software, and some deciding what to make pages of... but I finally did this! I bought two HP photo books from woot.com years ago and had never done anything with them. I kept researching how to do digital scrapbooks, and nothing I came up with worked for me; it was either too expensive or not the right size for the photo book. This was on my second list (to make 10 pages) and I kept getting overwhelmed by it, not having any idea what to do or where to even start. So this time around, I changed the goal to only 2, knowing that the hard part was going to be setup.
And it was. The software that came with the books won't run on my Windows 8 machine. The new version of the software (3.5) wouldn't install. I finally found version 3.7 and got that installed. However, it only came with 3 templates and a button for downloading more. When I clicked that button, it sent me to a page not found webpage. Google search found other URLs, all of which didn't work. So I tried downloading other software packages. None of those worked the way I wanted or had really limited template choices (and no design-your-own options, even).
Finally, I found a more recent version of HP Photo Creations that would instal (several versions I found were too old). And, once I got that going, it was perfect. It had everything I needed! I tried one with a "design it yourself" blank page and one with one of their set book templates. Both pages, I think, turned out beautifully. I can't wait to put together a list of the other things I want to make pages for. I think one of the two books will be trips (I've done one for my trip to Gettysburg in 2011 and another for my trip to Seattle in 2014). Both are pretty and shiny and lovely.

I haven't decided what the other photo album should be yet. Maybe something just for me. Don't know yet, but now that I've found software and successfully made two pages, the rest will be a breeze!
