I finished Forgotten Bookmarks by Michael Popek on Thursday. My kindred spirit sent it to me for Christmas in 2012, and I only just got to reading it now. I'm glad I made it one of these special books; I'd forgotten how much I wanted to read it! And I'm certainly glad that I did. it was a beautiful collection of items a bookseller has found inside books over the years. Not only are the photos of the items (postcards, photos, letters, poems, etc.) included, but so are photos of the actual books as well as (sometimes) printed transcriptions of the longer pieces so I didn't have to squint at some of the handwriting. My favorite was the list of adult dance club rules found in a book by Sigmund Freud. The collection, organized by type of item found, was such an enjoyable read.
