59. Play Poohsticks with friends
For my birthday celebration, I asked my friends to play Poohsticks with me. I've always wanted to play, and it's not something I can do on my own. I have amazing friends. one of whom lives within walking distance of a bridge in Rock Creek Park that was so perfect for playing Poohsticks that as soon as we got there, we found a family already standing on the bridge playing their own game of Poohsticks! We even asked them if that's what they were playing and, yep! That was so incredibly magical.
We chose a bunch of good sticks from melydia's backyard and carried them to the beidge, just in case there weren't any in the forest (yeah, we shouldn't have bothered, but at least we didn't have to leave the path to hunt for any). Poohsticks is played by dropping sticks on the upstream side of the bridge and then running over to the downstream side to see whose emerges first. We played about 8 rounds, and I lost absoluely every time except for the very last round! It was so much fun learning the tricks of the river and choosing the sticks. My favorite moment was when one of the sticks got caught in a weird back current (is that a thing?) and decided to go back under the bridge.

It was also International BookCrossing Day, so I released two Winnie-the-Pooh books near the bridge. One book was about playing Poohsticks and the other about birthdays. So appropriate!
